  • Working for a leading FMCG manufacturing company, reporting to the Projects Manager, the Process and Specification Technologist will be working within the NPD (new product development) team to help assess new product viability and foresee potential process issues that may arise at trial or in production.  You will responsible for coordinating factory-based product trials, ensuring relevant ingredients, packaging and raw material availability and liaising with production, purchasing and planning departments to ensure release of resource and machinery.  The successful Process and Specification Technologist will generate product samples and manage assessment of shelf life, visual, organoleptic, microbiological and nutritional analysis within agreed timescales.  Coordinating the review of factory trials, giving feedback and advice from trials to Technical, NPD, accounts and commercial teams on commercial viability, yield and risk assessment of potential quality issues on ingredients and raw materials.
    It is essential that applicants possess the ability to build relationships with appropriate contacts at ingredient suppliers and ensure ingredient specifications received are in line with customer standards and regulations. 
    You will be responsible for completing artwork checks against specification and sign off in line with the agreed critical path; assisting the production team in pre-production of all new products; and assisting the Commercial, Technical and production teams in the undertaking of first production review, feeding back on areas of success and concern and ensuring any process action points are followed up.
    Applications are invited form individuals educated to degree level standard with strong computer skills.  Previous experience with web based programmes desirable but not essential as training will be provided.  Individuals should have good organisational skills, effective communication/presentation skills, the ability to work under pressure and flexibility and willingness to be ‘hands on’ in the factory environment.
